Championship Winners

Top 30 players in expected fantasy points (XFP) per game through Week 16
Jayden Daniels is the Exodia QB we promised he would be. If we remove Week 7-11 from our sample to account for the rib/hand injuries that plagued him, Daniels has exceeded 20.5 fantasy points in 9 of 10 games this season, averaging 25.7 FPG. For perspective, that number is well ahead of Josh Allen’s 24.3 and is only 0.1 FPG behind Lamar Jackson’s position-best 25.8. League winner.
Bucky Irving SZN. He received a season-high 84.2% backfield carry share and both carries inside the 10-yard line last week. The route participation between him and Rachaad White (38% to 40% was as close to even as it’s been since before Irving’s injury…same for XFP (14.5 to 14.2).
Irving is set up nicely in a premiere matchup against the Panthers this week, where the Bucs are favored by 8 points. He’s an RB1 this week, while White would profile as a borderline top-30 option if we don’t get any negative coachspeak about his role. Force Irving into lineups.
Garrett Wilson is in trouble. Last week we speculated that Wilson might be in the doghouse and that Rogers might not be playing for anything more than to secure a fat new contract for himself and BFF Davante Adams. Since Wilson’s sideline tantrum against the Jags, Adams has 254 yards and three touchdowns on 21 targets. Wilson has 69 yards on 9 targets. Adams is the alpha again this week in a tough matchup vs the Bills - Wilson is a mid-range WR2.

Championship Decisions

Josh Downs // AP Photo, Doug Benc
Graham Barfield helps you make the toughest lineup decisions in Week 17.
Start Josh Downs. There’s a chance Anthony Richardson sits this one out, which would drastically boost the ceiling for Downs. In his four starts with Flacco, Downs averaged 8.2 catchable targets per game…which would be the third-most if he sustained that volume all season. He averaged 15.4 PPR FPG in his four starts with Flacco, compared to his 10.7 FPG in seven starts with Richardson.
Sit Kendre Miller. He’ll get another chance to ‘start’ with Kamara out again, but this ended up being a gnarly 3-way committee last week. Miller (44%) led the way over Williams (35%) and Mims (26%) in the first and second quarters of their blowout loss. Look for other options if possible.
Start Courtland Sutton. Since his random Week 7 goose egg, Sutton has become one of the most consistent WR2 over the last 8 games (~WR12). The Bengals roll safties two-high, a formation Sutton is less efficient at, but he should still turn in a solid performance…get him in your lineup.
Sit Jerry Jeudy. DTR hasn’t thrown for more than 165 yards in any of his four career starts. Across 192 dropbacks in 2023-24, DTR owns a pathetic 1:9 TD to INT ratio, averaging a league-low 3.9 YPA. Just 60.3% of DTR’s throws this season have been catchable, another league low. Avoid.

Miami Dolphins (47%) vs CLE. With DTR starting, the Browns allow the most fantasy points to opposing defenses. Miami is going into colder weather here, but the matchup is too good to ignore. They’ll pressure the QB (10 sacks last 3 games) and Cleveland has turned the ball over nine times in their previous three games, per Drake’s Week 17 Streaming D/STs.
Calvin Ridley's revenge game. Ridley just posted his best game since Week 10 with 3/78/1 receiving on 5 targets for 16.8 FP. He’s seen 7 or fewer targets in five of his last six games. The Jags, however, allow the second-most receiving YPG (119.3) and the second-most YPRR (2.24) to receivers aligned out wide…this should be a plus game for him, per Brolley’s Week 17 Game Hub.
All Systems Go - Mike Evans vs the Panthers. We’d love Evans in this matchup even with Jaycee Horn playing, but now that he’s doubtful, this looks like a smash play. Evans terrorized the Panthers earlier this season for 8/118/1 and is 182 yards shy of tying Jerry Rice’s record of 11 straight seasons with 1000 or more receiving yards. The Bucs will look to get him the record, and they’re also playing for a chance at the playoffs - so Evans should get force-fed, per Dolan’s Week 17 WR/CB Fantasy Matchups.

💸 Best Bets
Breece Hall over 21.5 receiving yards (-110, Bet365). He has 29+ receiving yards in 8 of 14 games and went 5.56 in the air vs BUF in Week 6. The Bills also allow the most receiving YPG (47.6) to RBs, per Brolley’s Best Bets Week 17.
Trey McBride over 62.5 receiving yards (-110, BetMGM). The Rams’ zone-heavy pass defense should offer opportunities for McBride…his 26.7% target per route run rate vs zone dwarfs MHJ’s 18.7% rate. Look for them to get McBride on the touchdown board this week, per Spags’ Prop Bets Week 17.

📱 Tweet of the Week
Who should win MVP…Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen?
Lamar Jackson's statistics are better than Josh Allen's
But Allen's statistics are (imo) better when you factor in that Baltimore receivers lead the league in separation (by a mile), while Buffalo doesn't have a single receiver who can't separate
