Good Vibes, Bad Vibes

The Guru puts his finger on the pulse of every team in the NFL, getting a gut feel for all the fantasy football news this summer

Quarterbacks

🟢 Good Vibes: Bryce Young

  • Overall, the vibes have been good with Young, who completely turned around his career trajectory in the final few weeks of last season

  • He’s looked confident and positive this preseason. The Guru doesn’t expect him to blow up, but he should be an ascending prospect who will be a top 15 drafted QB next season

🔴 Bad Vibes: Matthew Stafford

  • The only real “bad vibes” here are from the uncertainty around his injury and age. He’s a vet who always answers the bell, but is this the season he starts to fall off?

  • He’s practicing again and on track to play Week 1…but monitor here. If he’s healthy, it’s all systems go as usual

Running Backs

🟢 Good Vibes: Tony Pollard

  • He’s not the most exciting player anymore, but Pollard is clearly the guy in this backfield, with Spears going through an ankle injury…he could be a steal at ADP

  • Pollard is projected to handle a heavier workload than normal early on, so there’s potential for a sell high on him around midseason

🔴 Bad Vibes: The Cowboys RB Room

  • Between the corpses of Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders, as well as rookie Jaydon Blue having an up-and-down camp and a recent leg injury, the Cowboys’ RB room looks rough

  • Fresh meat is likely coming via trade or a free agent after final cuts…we’ll see

Wide Receivers

🟢 Good Vibes: Jaxon Smith-Njigba

  • He’s getting praised by his HC and new QB this entire summer, and the OL looks to be great this season, so vibes should be high for the passing attack

  • They might not throw the ball a ton, but he’s THE guy in this offense, and he should be given every chance needed to emerge as an elite receiver this season

🔴 Bad Vibes: Jayden Reed

  • He’s dealt with a foot injury this preseason, has a lingering toe issue and hasn’t practiced in a bit…not looking too hot here

  • The vibes haven’t been right since midseason of last year…and Golden’s arrival just means more competition

2025 Bold Predictions

Theo Grimminger looks into the crystal ball for 2025 fantasy football rookie league-winners, record-setting performances, NFL MVP winners & more

This article has 26 bold predictions…here are a few fun ones:

📈 Jameson Williams Levels Up

After a breakthrough in 2024 where he averaged 14.2 PPG and finished with just over 1,000 receiving yards, Williams will take his game to the next level with more usage, opportunities and a featured role.

Bold Prediction: 12 touchdowns, lead the NFL in catches of 40 yards or more (10) and will finish as a WR1

🏆 Jayden Daniels MVP Season

Daniels will be a top-4 QB scorer and will build on his incredible rookie campaign by leading all QBs in rushing yardage, becoming just the fourth QB in NFL history with 1,000 rushing yards in a season - all while throwing with better efficiency.

Bold Prediction: MVP Trophy, 1,000 rushing yards, Top-4 QB scorer

💣 Braelon Allen Takeover….Breece Traded?

Braelon Allen will split carries with Breece Hall to start the season and thrive, but Breece Hall gets traded at the mid-season mark to the Cowboys, which opens up the bellcow role for Allen AND Breece.

Bold Prediction: Braelon Allen finishes with 950 rushing yards and 8 touchdowns, while Breece Hall gets traded to the Cowboys

👀 Calvin Ridley Is This Year’s Terry McLaurin

Cam Ward will be a massive upgrade from the dark days of Will Levis, and like Sutton and McLaurin last season, the combination of elite WR1 usage and rookie QB locking in on him will result in a massive ADP win.

Bold Prediction: Ridley will have his best fantasy season since 2020, finishing with a 15 PPG average

🏈 Jordan Mason Surprise

Mason’s Minnesota debut will be a special one, finishing top-five in the NFL with 12 rushing touchdowns and going over 1000 yards as a runner. Aaron Jones will stay involved and catch 50 passes, but Mason will be the hammer the Vikings have been searching for.

Bold Prediction: 12 TDs, 1000 yards, big ADP value

2025 Bold Predictions

Fantasy Points Data lead Brett Whitefield offers up his 2025 NFL Quarterback rankings based on proprietary data and his own film study

The debates are over…Brett Whitefield’s list is upon us. Here’s his top 12:

Tier 1: The QBs You Win Because Of

  1. Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills): A dual-threat QB with a cannon arm, Josh Allen can elevate his team and make explosive plays, though a Super Bowl win is the only thing missing from his already impressive career.

  2. Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals): Burrow's elite accuracy, ball placement, and ability to run the offense make him a top-tier QB, but the Bengals are wasting his talents.

  3. Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens): Lamar has evolved into a mature, elite QB with low turnovers and high playmaking ability, though his lack of postseason success holds him back.

  4. Jalen Hurts (Philadelphia Eagles): Hurts shines in big games, the results are hard to ignore, particularly in both Super Bowl appearances. His dual-threat ability drives the success of the team.

  5. Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs): Though one of the greatest QBs ever, Mahomes' recent play has been more conservative, relying on short throws instead of his usual deep-playmaking, making his current form less dominant.

Tier 2: The QBs You Can Win With

  1. Jared Goff (Detroit Lions): A classic pocket passer, Goff has continued to thrive in Detroit, ranking top-5 in passing efficiency and accuracy while leading one of the NFL's most effective offenses.

  2. Jayden Daniels (Washington Commanders): As a dynamic rookie in 2024, Daniels elevated the Commanders to unexpected success, and while his future looks bright, more consistency is needed before ranking him higher.

  3. Matthew Stafford (Los Angeles Rams): Stafford has evolved into a highly disciplined QB in LA, but his lingering back injury raises concerns about his future, despite his potential for another Super Bowl run.

  4. Baker Mayfield (Tampa Bay Buccaneers): Mayfield has turned his career around with improved accuracy and decision-making, showing he can thrive in structure after a rocky start in Cleveland.

  5. Justin Herbert (Los Angeles Chargers): A physically gifted QB with immense raw talent, Herbert's lack of team success and occasional robotic play leave room for growth, though his new coach, Jim Harbaugh, could help him improve.

  6. Dak Prescott (Dallas Cowboys): Prescott is an accurate, high-volume QB who can process the field well, but his athleticism has diminished due to injuries, leading to occasional costly turnovers.

  7. Brock Purdy (San Francisco 49ers): Purdy excels in Kyle Shanahan’s system, running it effectively despite his limitations, and the 49ers' offense continues to perform at a high level under his command.
